Who sponsors this?  What is its purpose?

  • Community Clothesline is a Rochester MN area, inter-faith, non-profit 501(c)3 organization incorporated in 1988 to match a community resource (clothing and household items still useful but being discarded by affluent area residents) with a community need (the working poor who struggle to clothe their families and equip their homes.)
  • The mission is to provide a store where lower income folks in our community can shop with dignity and be able to find clothing and other items that are affordable to them.  Hopefully, this will assist them merge into the mainstream or our area.

Who are the supporters?

  • Generous individuals, organizations, and businesses provide abundant resources as donations of good used clothing, home accessories, and all sorts of miscellaneous articles plus financial assistance that allows us to be self-supporting.
  • More than 50 volunteers work to staff all the operations.

Why are there two stores?  Who shops at which store?

  • Anyone and everyone is welcome to shop at either the General Store or La Boutique.
  • The General Store offers clothing priced from 10¢ to $2.00 so those on limited or fixed incomes can shop with dignity from a large selection of items the year around.  Things like a winter coat or a ladies dress will be found for $2.00 or less.  For just a few dollars parents can provide back-to-school clothing for all their kids.
  • La Boutique offers clothing, home accessories, jewelry, collectibles, furniture, etc. at higher prices and it is this income that pays the overhead of keeping the General Store open and stocked.
